From the archives – Fork Truck – “A Flat Every 15 Minutes!”

According to Dave Snyder, shear foreman at a large scrapyard in Omaha, Nebraska- “If these tires weren’t flatproofed, that fork truck would be down with a flat every 15 minutes”.

The yard draws scrap metal – 100,000 tons a year – from seven western states, compacting it and shipping it out again to steel plants within a 300-mile radius.

Just the Facts, Mam!

Ever wonder how you can have a group of people in a room and someone in that group will undoubtedly hear something entirely different than what you hear or say?  That exact thing just happened to me during a recent equipment demo that I helped coordinate.  All the attendees were gathered around the presenter, who did a very thorough job of taking time to explain the nuances of the equipment;  the process, and the clean-up.
Communication then seems to break down when individuals sometimes half-heartedly listen into other people’s conversations.  They then place their own interpretation of the facts into their evaluation of the product or process, based on what they believe they heard, rather than the actual facts.
Such was the case, when a customer did not realize that all polyurethane tire flat proofing sometimes can take up to 7 full days to completely cure.
A conclusion based on perception, not on fact, can distort an important decision on vendor selection.
What may seem like a simple well-known fact by you may not be realized by your customer.  Remember to take the time to explain all aspects of your product to your customers, as truth, and facts, shall set you free!

Military Application – Tank Hauler

The M-1000 Heavy Duty Tank Hauler was losing an average of two tires daily due to extreme operating conditions.  After flatproofing these tires with RePneu,  it required over five months to experience the same two tire failures that were originally occurring each day!

Not only does foam filling increase productivity,  but significantly reduces costs as in just the first five months alone, this application realized an improvement of 15,000%

At CRU Copper Conference, “Serious Tire Shortage Ahead”

Not unlike the tire shortage back in the mid-2000′s, demand for very large tires in the mining industry may soon exceed supply.  “By the end of this year, or early next year, we will be in a potentially serious tire shortage situation,” said Cat Global Mining President Chris Curfman.

Much of the demand for larger mining equipment is coming from emerging markets such China, India and Russia, as well as to top Latin American markets Chile, Peru and Brazil “The whole mining industry is really on fire,” said Curfman. “We’re seeing a back-up in availability on some products going out eight to 12 months.”
